Pupils Entitled to Free School Meals – Covid -19

On Wednesday 1st April 2020, the Department for Education (DfE) announced that it has now developed a national voucher scheme to support schools with providing free school meals in term time. They since have provided schools provided us with the information to be able to roll out this scheme.
As soon as possible, registered families will receive an email from us with an eCode and instructions on how to use this eCode to create an eGift card. Families will be able to use the eGift cards in the following supermarkets:
•             Morrisons
•             Tesco
•             Sainsbury’s
•             Asda
•             Waitrose
•             M&S
The DfE recognises that it may not be convenient or possible for some families to visit one of these supermarkets, and are working to see if additional supermarkets can be added to this list.
Once families have received their voucher, they will be able to redeem it in-store at their selected retailer by either:
•             presenting the voucher on a smartphone or tablet
•             presenting a paper copy of the voucher
The vouchers should not be redeemed for any age-restricted items, such as alcohol, cigarettes or lottery tickets.
Each pupil eligible for free school meals will receive a voucher worth an equivalent of £3 per school day whilst the school is shut - £15 per week.
We will continue to accept free school meal applications especially if your circumstances have recently changed.
Parents should make contact with the local authority, who will verify eligibility and award free school meals. The eligibility criteria and application details for free school meals can be found on: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-meals-uniforms-and-trips/apply-for-free-school-meals/
