We believe that visual art engages our pupils and provides exciting opportunities for our children to develop their artistic skills as well as learning about art history. We are an Arts Mark silver school and in addition, we are also Arts Award registered and each year, our year 3 and year 5 will complete the Discover and Explore award.
During each term, every child receives explicit art sessions with Mrs Lockwood as well as art sessions with class teachers during some of the arts and culture sessions. Evidence of our children's learning is shown though the fantastic displays around our school. During the course of the year, children will get to experience 6 different strands of visual art; drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles and 3D. We have also been fortunate to work with some amazing artists from our local community and these are evident around the school, from stained glass windows, cardboard sculptures and our most recent addition - our vibrant new playground mural, which we worked in partnership with local muralist and illustrator, Catalina Carvajal!
