Arts and Culture

. At Springfield, we believe in the power of Arts & Culture and the impact this can have on our students. Whether this is learning to express ourselves, collaborating with each other or developing new skills, Our focus is to ensure our pupils have the opportunity to learn in and through the arts while developing the life-longs skills to succeed and develop cultural capital.
W
e believe every child is entitled to an 'Arts rich' curriculum. Artistic and Cultural learning experiences are timetabled into each week explicitly but are also visible throughout all curriculum as a golden thread and key curriculum driver.

Arts Ambassadors!

Picture

Our board of Arts Ambassadors look at our teachers planning each term and make suggestions on how we can incorporate artistic and cultural learning into all lessons. In our meetings, we discuss the Arts & Culture curriculum projects and how we can fundraise to make these happen as well as monitoring the year group scrapbooks to have a view of the Arts & Culture provision at Springfield.
We hope that moving forward, our Ambassadors will support training in staff meetings and on inset days and that they will be able to work with Arts Ambassadors from other schools to collaborate on projects and collect new ideas on how to develop the cultural capital of pupils at Springfield Junior School.

'Arts education is not a luxury, it's a necessity. It's really the air many kids breathe. It's how we get kids excited about getting up and going to school in the morning. It's how we get them to take ownership of their future'
                                   - Michelle Obama, Imagine Nation 2021
