In year 3 we have had a busy start to the new term. We began with a trip to Avid climbing centre where the children tried their hand at bouldering. This is climbing without ropes and harnesses and helped to kick start our topic on Mountains. Although some of the children felt apprehensive, all left with smiles on their faces after conquering their fears and it was an excellent activity for them to try. Our topic continues and the children are familiar with features of a mountain and can name mountain ranges around the world.
Our science topic is healthy eating and teeth and we have been fortunate to have Mrs Rice come in to talk to the children about why we have teeth, how our teeth are different to animals and the importance of good oral hygiene. She informed us of the high sugar content of many of our regular snacks and drinks and your child will be able to tell you all about a dental acid attack and how to avoid them!
We will be announcing the date of our next tea afternoon shortly.
