Google Classroom is being launched this year to support learning at home. In the event of a class bubble self-isolating or an individual, staff have created a curriculum to ensure that the high level of teaching pupil receive still continues.
What will remote learning look like at Springfield Junior School? At Springfield Junior School, we have created a robust plan which ensures that the high-quality of education received on a daily basis in the classroom is not compromised if any member or bubble of the school is required to self-isolate. We are mindful of what electronic devices children may have at home and we have adapted this plan accordingly to ensure that all stakeholders are supported.
This plan will be applied in the following instances:
An individual is self-isolating because of a positive test within the household;
A group of children are self-isolating because of a case of coronavirus in the bubble;
A whole bubble or cohort is self-isolating because of an outbreak of coronavirus.
Please find below the 'Home Learning' document which contains more information about the learning and support we will provide:
Acceptable Use Policy - Remote Learning and Communication Please spend some time looking through the addendum document below which should be read in conjunction with the ICT Acceptable Use Policy. This outlines information about what we expect from staff and pupils when hosting live lessons, remotely.
Remote Learning and Communication - Acceptable Use Policy Please take some time to look at an additional element of our Acceptable Use Policy which outlines what we expect when hosting virtual lessons, using Google Classroom.
Timetabling of Live Lessons Here is an overview of when live lessons will be occurring each week:
Monday - year 3 Tuesday - Year 4 Wednesday - Year 5 Thursday - Year 6 *The times of these will be confirmed by the class teacher at the beginning of the Autumn Term*
These days have been selected to ensure that there are no clashes for pupils who have siblings in other year groups. We will be uploading many pre-recorded lessons to Google Classroom (a minimum of three per week) which will support children with their learning - this will allow pupils to replay videos at any point during the week. Timetabling may be flexible based on the needs of pupils across all year groups.
Government guidance outlines that pupils in Key Stage 2 should be approximately 4 hours of learning per day. Both Core and Foundation subject content can be found on Google Classroom. However, we appreciate that many of you will be doing additional activities at home which will fire pupils' imagination through artwork and also cooking. We warmly welcome pictures of comments to be placed on the class pages which illustrate the additional learning families are completing at home.
