About Us
Welcome to Springfield Junior School
Welcome to Springfield Junior School. I hope that the information provided on our website will help you to gain an understanding of the life and work of our wonderful school.
Springfield Junior School is a friendly and welcoming school situated in the centre of its community in the west of Ipswich. We are comprised of 12 classes for children aged between 7 and 11, as well as ample group-work areas, a nurture room, a well-resourced library, an indoor play space, outside play areas and a performing arts room. The school hall is used for assemblies, lunches and PE sessions. We are an OPAL school, which means we are working across 18 areas to improve the quality of play of our children, through a creative approach to providing varied activities for play.
At Springfield Junior School, we aim to be the school of choice for our families with our aspirational and inspirational curriculum within a caring, inclusive and nurturing environment. We work hard to ensure all our children become responsible, tolerant and active members of their community who have the firm belief that they can, and will, achieve their dreams with hard work and a positive attitude.
Staff, supported by governors, deliver a broad and engaging curriculum which is accessible to all children. Children are valued as individuals and encouraged to participate in a wide range of activities, enabling them to develop skills and attitudes which will equip them for life. We aim to be a high-attaining school with our children achieving success in all curriculum areas and becoming life-long learners.
We work hard to establish close links between home and school so that we can effectively work together to achieve the best for each child. We share our children's successes and work in partnership with our parents and carers to support our children's well-being and mental health. We offer the Thrive programme as part of this work with an experienced Thrive practitioner, as well as bespoke intervention programmes to ensure all our children's needs are met, if and when they require additional support.
If you have any questions or queries or would like further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school.
Paper copies of any documents found on this website can be provided, when requested, from our school office.

Our Values - spring into learning
At Springfield Junior School, children lie at the heart of everything we do. Inclusion is key to the decisions and actions we take every day.
Our core learning behaviours of: Self-Awareness, Perseverance, Reflection, Independence, Not afraid to take a risk and Group Champion (SPRING), guide the things we do and the choices we make in school. We aim for our children to be active towards their own learning, demonstrating courage, endeavour and teamwork.
Our school is full of learning, respect, and friendship, where our vision is that all children are prepared for life by becoming;
- Curious, independent learners who demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding in their learning and who relish challenge
- Sympathetic friends who enjoy learning and playing together
- Thoughtful, inclusive, respectful people who care about the world, their country and who develop strong personal values.
To fulfil our vision we will:
- provide high quality teaching, which inspires a love of learning
- challenge children by creating an environment and curriculum which excites/motivates/inspires children as learners
- encourage growth mindset and a ‘have a go culture’, where children learn from their mistakes and are not afraid to take a risk
- teach our children to develop a sense of personal worth, self-discipline and self-awareness, reflecting on how their behaviour and attitudes affect their learning and those around them
- value each child as an individual, with a unique range of talents, interests, learning styles and needs
- provide opportunities to develop an understanding and respect of British Values
- involve parents as essential valued partners in the life of the school
- appreciate and professionally develop a dedicated team of staff and governors; striving as educators to continually improve our own practice
