OPAL Parent PLAY day is a smash!

Springfield opened its gates to parents on Friday 2nd May to share the latest OPAL updates!

On Friday 2 May 2025, parents were invited into school to see the latest OPAL developments ahead of the school's OPAL accreditation in the coming weeks.

The school was blown away by the response from parents. There was so much interest that the OPAL PLay team will be arranging another parent play day in Summer 2 to enable more parents to come along!

Parents arrived in the glorious sunshine and were welcomed by SLT onto the playground. After a quick read of our latest changes and a study of our site map, parents were reunited with their children who proudly showed their loved ones around the different play zones.

Laughter could be heard echoing around the playground, while families raced on scooters, designed structures from loose parts and built dens. There was dancing, sand and water play as well as puffy paint and arcade games in the canopy.

Parents were surprised and excited by what they saw.

One year 3 parent said, "I had no idea there was so much. There is something in every nook and cranny!"

Another stated that they were impressed by the choice and that lunchtimes at Springfield must be 'mega fun'.

The school is dedicated to improving lunchtimes and play provision for all and this event was a true celebration of how much has been achieved since starting their OPAL journey 18 months ago.

Thank you to all parents who attended this event - we look forward to the next one!
